The Department of English was founded in 2013 in response to the increasing demands for graduates in the field of English language and literature especially after the fast developments in Kurdistan Region. Since then it witnessed radical changes in its faculty members, number of students, the subjects taught, and the facilities offered.
Mission
The Department of English aims to enhance students' linguistic and literary understanding, cultural perception and awareness, and English language proficiency. Additionally, it seeks to provide graduates with the necessary skills to effectively navigate the job market upon completing their studies. The Department additionally prepares graduates to navigate a rapidly evolving and technologically sophisticated environment influenced by international occurrences.

The Department looks forward to establishing a well-qualified educational department with high international standards that enhances the teaching and training processes of students, providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their future responsibilities and jobswherever they are needed. This vision significantly enhances the University's overall objectives.

Job Opportunities:
English Teacher: teach at public and private schools, and they will teach students how to communicate, understand, and write in English.
Interpreter: interpret verbal communication from one language to another and act as mediums where language barriers exist.
Translator: work with legal, scientific, business, and technical materials efficiently as well.
Men of Letter: (Writer) Graduates can work with educational institutions to research, proofread, and update their writing projects according to their feedback.
University Lecturer: After getting a Masters’s or Ph.D. degree in the English language and literature field, Graduates can have a chance to work as lecturers at educational institutions or universities to undertake teaching, research, and administrative duties.
Human Resources Specialist: Human resources managers compose advertisements for jobs to attract the most qualified candidates. They develop written training materials for staff development.
