Workshop on Fracture Care Fundamentals and Plaster of Paris (POP) Application at Cihan University
On April 27, 2026, the College of Nursing at Cihan University organized a workshop entitled “Fracture Care Fundamentals: Closed Reduction Management and Cast Application with Plaster of Paris (POP).” The session was delivered by Dr. Layla M. Salih, Ms. Sara J. Kadhim, and Mr. Karzan I. Mohammed.
The workshop was designed to equip nursing students with essential theoretical knowledge and practical competencies in the management of patients with fractures. It focused on key aspects such as closed reduction techniques, immobilization methods, neurovascular assessment, proper application of Plaster of Paris casts, prevention of complications, and patient education. By integrating theoretical instruction with hands-on training, the workshop aimed to prepare students for real-world clinical practice.
By the conclusion of the workshop, students demonstrated the ability to interpret fracture-related X-ray images and competently perform the application of Plaster of Paris casts
