the College of Law, in cooperation with the Consultation and Research Center, organized a panel discussion titled: “Violence Against Women Between Law and Society: A Joint Perspective of the Court, the Police, and the Women’s Rights Authority”

Under the patronage and supervision of Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad, President of Cihan University – Duhok, the College of Law, in cooperation with the Consultation and Research Center, organized a panel discussion titled:

“Violence Against Women Between Law and Society: A Joint Perspective of the Court, the Police, and the Women’s Rights Authority”,

coinciding with the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The panel discussion included three main themes:

1- The Court’s Handling of Violence Against Women Cases

• Public Prosecutor: Hedar Abdulmajid Hassan

• Head of the Public Prosecution Department – Duhok

2- The Police’s Roles and Challenges in Protecting Women from Violence Threats

• Legal Colonel: Wlat Sadiq Ibrahim

• Director of the Directorate of Family and Women Violence – Duhok

3- Efforts of the Kurdistan Women’s Union Center to Prevent and Combat Violence Against Women

• Head of Duhok Center, Kurdistan Women’s Union

The session highlighted the legal, security, and rights-based roles in combating violence against women, emphasizing the importance of coordination among official institutions and civil society to enhance the protection of women and raise awareness.

The session also included extensive discussions, during which the attendees shared their observations and questions, enriching the dialogue and deepening the understanding of this critical issue.
