Today on (Nov 1, 2022) in the presence of the University President Assist Prof. Dr. (Zeravan Abdulmohssen Assad) also In the presence of the head of departments and lecturer a symposium entitled (Carbohydrate Metabolic Disorders) was presented by Assistant Lecturer (Ms. Kajeen Hasan Jasim) the head of the Medical Laboratory department, where it has been explained about Carbohydrate metabolism disorders are a group of metabolic disorders. Normally your enzymes break carbohydrates down into glucose (a type of sugar). If you have one of these disorders, you may not have enough enzymes to break down carbohydrates. Or the enzymes may not work properly. obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipoproteinaemia, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, coronary heart disease, and cancer are widespread diseases, in which carbohydrates could have a pathophysiologic relevance, Types of carbohydrate metabolic diseases include diabetes mellitus, lactose intolerance, fructose intolerance, galactosemia, glycogen storage disease, mucopolysaccharidoses. Some of the disorders are inborn errors of carbohydrate metabolism and are less common, at the end of the symposium a set of questions and answers were raised on this subject.
