This paper examines the multifaceted drivers of this phenomenon, including inappropriate prescribing practices in human and animal medicine, patient behaviors, and the availability of over-the-counter antibiotics in some regions. We explore the consequences of this imprudent use, highlighting the increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant organisms, the erosion of treatment options for common infections, and the associated economic and public health burdens.
