On September 16, 2025, a scientific workshop entitled "Microbiology in Middle East Conflicts" was conducted by Medical Microbiology department and Clinical Biochemistry department at Cihan University-Duhok.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Mervan Y. Huseyin and Mr. Shirwan H. Darweesh, along with a group of senior students. The workshop was aimed to discuss the health consequences of wars and conflicts in the Middle East, with a focus on analyzing the impact of conflicts on the spread of infectious diseases caused by microbes
