the College of Nursing organized a panel discussion titled “Diabetes Awareness: Prevention and Early Screening.”

On November 15th, 2025, and in recognition of World Diabetes Day, the College of Nursing organized a panel discussion titled “Diabetes Awareness: Prevention and Early Screening.” The session was presented by Dr. Adris H. Ahmed, and Dr. Layla M. Salih, who focused on enhancing the audience’s understanding of diabetes as a major global health challenge and emphasized the critical importance of early detection and preventive strategies.

Throughout the discussion, the physicians highlighted the significance of lifestyle modifications—including maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and achieving a healthy body weight—as key measures in preventing Type 2 diabetes. The session also underscored the value of community-based education programs and routine screening, particularly for individuals at high risk due to factors such as family history, obesity, or sedentary behavior.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which attendees’ inquiries were addressed by a physician specialized in diabetes care.
