A Symposium entitled: Understanding and Managing Chronic Kidney Disease
on (Jun 17, 2025) in the presence of the head of departments and lecturer a symposium entitled (Understanding and Managing Chronic Kidney Disease), was presented by (Assistant Lecturer Zeyad Abdullah Basheer) from the Pharmacy college, Where it has been explained about, Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition characterized by the gradual loss of renal function over months to years. It often results from long-standing conditions such as diabetes mellitus and hypertension, leading to structural kidney damage and impaired filtrative capabilities. Early identification of CKD through regular screening, including measurement of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and proteinuria assessment, is vital to prevent disease progression. Management strategies focus on controlling underlying causes, slowing renal deterioration, and addressing complications. Without timely intervention, CKD can culminate in end-stage renal disease (ESRD), necessitating dialysis or transplantation and significantly increasing mortality and morbidity, At the end of the symposium Addressing CKD effectively hinges on early detection, managing underlying risk factors, and employing the latest treatment strategies. Advances in diagnostics and therapeutics offer hope for slowing disease progression and improving patient well-being. Collaboration between healthcare providers, ongoing research, and patient education are essential to tackling this silent epidemic and reducing its global impact.
