Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced by the body's pineal gland, primarily in response to darkness. It plays a crucial role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle, helping to synchronize our internal body clock with the day-night cycle.
As a supplement, melatonin is widely used to improve sleep quality and manage sleep disorders like insomnia, jet lag, and shift work sleep disorder. Research suggests that it can be effective for certain individuals, particularly those with disrupted circadian rhythms.
At the end of the symposium, a set of questions and answers were raised on this subject.
