Legal status of the mentally ill, was presented by  (Dr. Rebar Hussein Yousif) from the Law department , Where it has been explained about, This study highlights the legal status of individuals with mental illness and examines how legislation addresses their condition in terms of legal capacity and criminal and civil liability, focusing on Iraqi and Kurdistan Region laws.

, At the end of the symposium • Legislation must be updated to provide a precise definition of a mentally ill person and guarantee their legal rights.

• Cooperation between the judiciary and medical authorities should be strengthened in assessing the mental state of suspects.

• Specialized forensic psychiatric treatment centers should be established within the region.

• Public awareness should be raised to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
