On (Feb 13, 2024) in the presence of  the head of departments and lecturer a symposium entitled (Contemporary Fiction), was presented by the Assistant Lecturer (Mr. Mohamed Muayad Yousif ) from the English department, Where it has been explained about Contemporary fiction is a diverse genre that evolves with the times, reflecting the intricacies and dilemmas of life from the late 20th century to the present. It is characterized by its realistic settings, complex characters, and candid engagement with social, political, and cultural issues, often touching on race, gender, identity, and the impact of technology. The genre is notable for its narrative experimentation, with authors like Margaret Atwood, Haruki Murakami, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Kazuo Ishiguro leading the way in pushing the boundaries of storytelling. Through a range of voices and styles, contemporary fiction captures the essence of modern living while exploring the human condition and the interconnectedness of global communities, At the end of the symposium, a set of questions and answers were raised on this subject
